The Perth
Advanced Rocketry Club exists to serve
the needs of all model rocket flyers in Western Australia. We aim to
promote a fun, safe and educational environment for all West Australians
interested in flying model rockets. We have a launch site located in
Toodyay with a CASA waiver to 3500ft.
Forget RC planes, cars, trains and kites.
If you are you looking for a REAL hobby, one that's more than a little
different, and you like mind blowing speed and the roar of rocket engines,
then you should seriously consider model rocketry as a hobby. Nothing
compares to launching a big rocket to a few thousand feet. You'll be
the talk of your friends and coworkers alike. And the whole family
can and often do enjoy rocketry togeather. How many hobbies can make
that boast?
If you've never seen a real rocket fly (we're not talking about small
Estes model rockets (but we fly them too)) you just have to come down
to the next launch! You'll be blown away! We hope to see you there!
Model rocketry has been around since the
late 1950's (see the movie 'October Sky') and there has been an estimated
600+ million flights since this time with no serious incidents. Rocketry
is very popular in the USA and parts of Europe but it's almost unheard
of here in Australia. The Perth
Advanced Rocket Club is in it's 10th year
and we look forward to many more years of safe, fun advanced rocketry
and we'd like YOU to be a part of it! So come on down to the next launch
(see Launch Dates page for dates and a map).
All Memberships include $5,000,000 liability insurance
cover. 10% discount off all Estes, Quest and Aerotech products at Stanbridges
Hobby Store, use of club equipment, mail outs, news letters and site
shed. Be sure to download the new membership form from the downloads
page.

27th June 2008: June 29th launch is GO!
If in doubt, call Phillip on 0418 917 410
5th June 2008: How generous isCarl
from Dawn Trading, he has sent 50 ESTES Hijax rocket kits to be used
to help promote PARC to children. PARC salutes you!
3rd June 2008: June 8th launch is GO!
But it might be a bit windy :(
20th May 2008: Breaking news from Phillip:
As most know Stanbridges is PARC's sponsor and it was pointed out that
PARC did not own a launch rack for children to use, so I thought I would
build one myself to donate to PARC. Stanbridges heard of my special project
and has paid for me to build PARC a Launch rack to hold 6 launch rods,
a launch controller to enable 6 launches at once for the children members
of PARC and as a huge bonus also donated 6 small Quest kits 48 blackpowder
motors/wading/igniters, the glue to build the rockets was also included.
These kits will be used for loan rockets to children who are not members
of PARC but visit our range during the year. This will let them have a
small taste of what rocket flying is all about. It may also appear that
Dawn Trading will also be contributing to further rocket kits in the future
for PARC to utilise.
A BIG THANK-YOU STANBRIDGES (Peter) for your wonderful donation, I am
sure that PARC will get years and years of use from the controller and
the rack. - Phillip.
(ed: the photos on the ARA forum of the donated goods is quite impressive!)
18th May 2008: We have received the results
of the submissions to DOCEP regarding the need for a Security Card.
Just a brief run down of what is now in place effective immediatley for
PARC members.
Small rocket motors = A, B and C motors under 5.0g
Medium = D, E, F and G motors >5.0g and <62.5g
Large = H and I motors >62.5g and <325.0g
Below are requirements for the possession of model rocket motors
SMALL - Any person may purchase, possess and use small rocket motors
provided that they are adults or under supervision.
MEDIUM - Any person can purchase, possess and use medium rocket motors
provided they are current members of an approved rocketry club.
LARGE - Any person can purchase, possess and use large rocket motors
provided that they have a current PSUL which will include the Security
Card.
SO all members of PARC can now upon showing their membership card purchase
up to 62.5g motors ie G without a permit or license. If you go High
Power ie H and I you will require a PSUL and the DGSecurity Card unless
you are under direct supervision by a Member who holds a PSUL and DGSC.
Clildren can launch Black powder and Composite motors up to and including
G motors under direct supervision of an adult and must be a member of
an approved rocketry club.
I have also queried about a clause 5.1.4 Power limits and PARC now has
an exemption to allow model rockets that are propelled by more than one
blackpowder motor to be launched. Composite clusters and staged rockets
will require further notification to the PARC Committee so we can gain
an exemption so long as it is a practical launch with established engineering
principles it should be passed by DOCEP.
16th May 2008: BBQ's ARE
NOW OK! :-)
13th May 2008: The launch

fireban is still in effect which means NO BBQ's :-(
